Applications are now open for Stream A’s University of Victoria Engineering Competition! The competition will be held on Saturday, June 29th, with a total of 7 different categories to compete in. This year’s UVEC will feature a new competition, Re-engineering, which is a brand-new addition to the regional competitions across Canada.
The victorious teams will get to compete at the 2014 Western Engineering Competition, which is being hosted this upcoming January at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

JUNIOR DESIGN
Teams of four are given their challenge the morning of the junior design competition. The challenge usually involves designing, building, and testing a simple machine or structure to complete a given task. Teams have to consider limited resources and a scoring matrix to best maximize their score. After only four hours, the teams must present and test their prototype before the judges.
SENIOR DESIGN
Teams of up to four will have 12 hours to design and build a device that will complete a given task or set of tasks that will be presented to them on that day.…

The Semesterly General Meeting for Stream A will be held on Thursday, May 9th at 3:00 in the ELW Lobby.
We will be voting on the budget for the Summer as well as a couple minor motions. Almost all of the positions on the executive are up for election, so this is a great time to come out and start getting involved with the ESS. Elections will of course be followed by free pizza.

We are now accepting applications for WESST Executives’ Meeting, which will be held from May 4-6, 2013 in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Executives’ Meeting is the most professionally focused conference that WESST hosts; intended for the development and transition of society executives from across Western Canada. EM is strategically planned to take place in early May, when most engineering societies have just finished their elections for their new executive. With a heavy focus on transition of documents and knowledge, any member of the society that has previously held an executive position, currently holds an executive position, or is looking to hold an executive position in the near future is encouraged to apply.

The Cinkant Endowment Fund will be accepting proposals until March 1st, 2013.
The Cinkant Endowment Fund was set up in 1997 to fund projects for the benefit of all engineering students. This year the fund will be dispensing a total of $7500.
